Don represents the Outboard Boating Club of Auckland on the TBF.  He is very active in boating and salt water fishing circles and presently holds a number of positions:

- Former Vice Commodore & member of the Executive Committee, and currently Boat Safety Inspector for the OBC Ak,

- NZTBF delegate to the NZ Recreational Fishing Council,

- Member of the Warkworth Game Fishing Club,

- Member of the Whakatakataka Bay Sports Fishing Club,

- Member of the Cape Egmont Boat Club

- Member of Auckland Coastguard.

- Member of the Executive Committee of the TBF,

Don owns a 7.8m Morgan named "Neries, is Managing Director of his own building maintenance company, is married to Annette, has three grown up children, and resides in Browns Bay on Auckland’s North Shore.

Don’s other interests includes most sports but in particularly, rugby, boating, fishing, yachting, messing about in the mud with 4x4s, and he is an active road cyclist.

He was involved as a Course Marshal for both the 2000 and 2003 America’s Cup events, and is an active “Option4” supporter and was the Campaign Manager for the “Kahawai Challenge”.
